HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid
Course Description
This first aid course provides practical, hands-on training to recognise emergencies and deliver immediate, effective first aid in line with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and national standards.
What you’ll learn
How to assess an emergency, ensure safety, and call for help
How to perform CPR and use an AED
How to manage anaphylaxis, asthma, choking, bleeding, and shock
How to immobilise and manage fractures, sprains, dislocations, and envenomation
Key differences in first aid for adults, children, and infants
How to provide clear handovers, review incidents, and recognise psychological impacts

Available fully face to face or online with practical assessments

Participant Requirements
Participants undertaking CPR training are required to perform uninterrupted CPR on an adult mannequin on the floor for a minimum of 2 minutes, in line with current assessment guidelines
Pre-course and online delivery
Some courses require online pre-course learning to be completed before the face-to-face session
Participants must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet, or similar device with internet access to complete online components
Duration
Face to face duration: 7.5 hours
Online + practical duration: 180 minutes
Certification
Statement of attainment issued upon successful completion (usually within 24 hours)
Certificate validity: 3 years
